Here at Mother&Baby, we absolutely love Toniebox and Tonies, so much so that our night time routine would be a lot more chaotic without it. That's why we were delighted to hear that they are expanding the Sleepy Friends with three brand new figures.

The new Sleepy Ocean Tonies collection resemble adorable sleeping animals and include Sleepy Penguin, Sleepy Whale and Sleepy Octopus all of which have been hand-painted for a delicate finish. Designed to help with bedtime, they play sleepy lullabies, sleepy ocean sounds and soothing ocean-themed bedtime stories for little ones. We particularly love the long run time of 140 minutes (Sleepy Whale and Sleepy Penguin), giving plenty of time for your little one to drift off. The new collection will join the Sleepy Friends Tonies range, which also includes Sleepy Bear, Sleepy Rabbit, Sleepy Sheep and night lights.

Just like the other Tonies figures, they are crafted from plastic and are magnetic, which makes them easy to connect to your Toniebox.

If you're new to the world of tonies®, they're a musical story box that use Tonies figures to bring to life stories from our favourite characters. Toddler-proof and easy for small hands to operate, they're a brilliant alternative to screens. All they need to do is pick up the Toniebox and tap left or right to move to a new story, chapter or song. They can also press the Toniebox rubber ears to turn the volume up and down.

Sleepy Friends tonie Sleepy Octopus Tonie

Say hello to Sleep Octopus, who features a slow and soothing story and Sleepy Octopus and her friends. Sleepy Octopus has a run time of 41 minutes.

Tested by Mother&Baby's Digital Writer Hannah Mellin: "Sleepy Octopus is now a very important part of my 17-month-old's routine and it's starting to realise that when Sleepy Octopus sings her song it's very nearly time for bed. This tonie is designed to wind down your little one's for bedtime and I can definitely say it does the job, in fact, the Octopus song made me a little emotional when we first popped it on our Toniebox. It's such a lovely, gentle and soothing song and beats all the other baby and toddler songs I have on repeat in my heads all day long. After the song comes a relaxing, slow-paced and soothing story about how friendship blossoms on the moonlit seabed. The story does go on for a long time and I found that it helped my little one re-settle when he stirs after falling asleep (or when I leave his room) so it has been amazing for bedtime. Definitely now one of our favourites in our Tonies collection."

Pros

  • Includes a song and a story
  • Not too loud for bedtime
  • Soothing and gentle narrator

Cons

  • You do need internet connection
Run time: 41 minutes
Age: 3+ (but can be used with younger children with supervision)

Sleepy Penguin - White Noise from the OceanTonies

White noise is a life saver when it comes to babies and bedtime and Sleepy Penguin features 2 hours of soothing ocean-inspired white noise. This will help create the perfect environment for your little one to drift off to sleep.

Tested by Mother&Baby Digital Writer Hannah Mellin: "If you're little one can't go to sleep without soothing white noise, Sleepy Penguin will help lull your baby to sleep with ocean-inspired white noise. This Tonie is the longest one I own, with a run-time of 120 minutes, and actually lasts for longer than my trusted white noise machine from Amazon. If you're expecting a story or songs, this Tonie is not for you, but if you're looking for a cute white noise Tonie that will help with creating the perfect sleep environment, this is the Sleepyfriend for you."

Pros

  • Long run time
  • Great for incorperating white noise into a bedtime routine
  • Releaxing and suitable for bedtime

Cons

  • Not suitable for children who don't settle with white noise
  • Some reviews wanted brown and pink noise added
Run time: 120 minutes
Age: 3+ (but can be used with younger children with supervision)

Sleepy Whale - Lullabies from the Ocean reviewtonies

Sleepy Whale doesn't just look adorable, they provide up to 2 hours of calming ocean sounds and lullabies designed to create a lovely sleep environment for your toddler.

Tested by Mother&Baby Digital Writer Hannah Mellin: "My 17-month-old loves a story and white noise, but lullabies have never really soothed him (not even my incredibly bad recreation of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), but Sleepy Whale really changed that for him. This Tonie has over two hours of calming ocean sounds and lullabies that have been designed to help soothe your little one before bedtime. I often switched to this Tonie after reading him a story and he loved it and it even helped him drift off to sleep. I loved how the lullabies and ocean sounds are really subtle and not too overpowering."

Pros

  • Cute handpainted figure
  • Mixture of lullabies and ocean sounds
  • Gentle and soft sounds - perfect for bedtime!

Cons

  • You do need internet connection
Run time:  140 minutes
Age: 3+ (but can be used with younger children with supervision)
