Bepanthen is a gentle nappy care ointment with Provitamin B5. It has been specifically designed to protect your baby's delicate skin from the causes of nappy rash. You can use Bepanthen at every nappy change, starting with the very first. A baby's skin is very absorbent and sensitive, so it needs a suitable, gentle product. Bepanthen's kind-to-skin formulation is free from colours, fragrances and preservatives.

This product has also won a 2024 Mother&Baby Award in the Best Nappy Cream category

Pros

  • Suitable for sensitive skin

Testing the Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment

Katrina: Love loved loved this product. We have used many nappy creams in the past and hadn't actually used this one. But we will definitely continue to buy this one. Handy tube and lid makes it easy to access during nappy changes unlike the pot designs. Really lovely textures and made a difference to the nappy rash within the 1st day.

Megan: The physical product itself is great, the flip lid is quick and easy and the cream comes out easily, and not too much. My daughter also likes to hold the tube for me during nappy changes, and hasn't been able to open it which is great. I only need to apply one thin layer and my daughter is protected well. She has been suffering with nappy rash from teething and this cream provides fast relief.

Charlotte B: The ointment applies clear and doesn't cause difficulty to remove stains on clothes like some other nappy rash creams. It is in a tube so it can fit it your bag easily and it comes in different size tubes so I have one for home (big tube) and one for on the go (smaller tube). It is very easy to apply and works quickly.

Shannon: I would definitely recommend this to all mums! Whether you are a new mum or your childs a little older but still in nappies. My child suffers with really bad nappy rash as she has such sensitive skin, numerous creams from chemist/doctors can take weeks to show any difference, 2 applications of this and it's completely taken down all the redness and sores. It's easy to pack into a travel bag/nappy bag and as it's in a tube not a tub like a few other creams it barely takes up any space.

Marie: I would recommend this product to others as a small amount goes a long way and is, therefore, good value for money. It also really works on nappy rash for mild to moderate rashes in babies with sensitive skin. It’s easy to apply when out as it’s not too greasy and therefore it doesn’t stick to your hands and is easy to wash off.

Charlotte O: I would recommend this cream as it is easy to apply and is effective prevention for nappy rash. If you 'miss' a poo for 5 minutes, it does not mean that your baby's bum is red. It is not messy and does not stain clothes. Whilst I think that this is an effective cream, I would raise the issue that it contains peanut oil, which means that it is not accepted in many childcare settings. Therefore, parents would need to look for an alternative cream to use if their child attends nursery/ a childminder as many of these settings are 'nut free'.

Final verdict

Stephanie: I personally would choose and buy this product but not as the best nappy cream I would choose it as the best tattoo aftercare cream. The reason I wouldn’t choose it for my baby is because it contains a lot of non organic ingredients and I prefer to use as little as possible on my baby and only use creams if and when needed as recommended by my midwives and health visitors. If my baby’s bum was sore for some reason I would apply a different cream not a barrier cream.

Emily: I would choose this product over anything else as it's so easy to use, I like the consistency, the cream feels nice and rich, and applies nicely to babies skin. It forms a nice protective layer. I also like the fact it is unscented so that it doesn't affect sensitive skin. It is packaged in a handy tube which I feel keeps the cream clean and hygienic.

Katrina: I would definitely continue to buy this product above others. I found the texture very smooth compared to other brands which can be clumpy. And it actually worked, so for me it worked brilliantly. Nice sleek tube fits perfectly inside the changing bag as well. Great product and I will be purchasing more!

Megan: The only thing that may need improving is the stickiness of the cream itself. Other creams are easy to clean off your hands once applied but Bepanthen is quite sticky and I find it tricky to get off my hands easily. Otherwise, there isn't anything I can think of. It's easy to use, my daughter can't open the cream itself and it provides her with quick relief.

Shannon: The one thing I would probably change about this product is the lid. Although I love how easy it is to open one handed myself in the middle of a nappy change, it's also too easy for my 1.5 year old to open and we have had a few accidents with the cream (I mean what child doesn't like to squeeze things out of tubes) but overall that's the only thing I see could be improved. 10/10 for this!!

Marie: I think a smaller tube would be great. Maybe it already comes in a smaller tube. This would be more handy to carry in a bag. Changing bags end up with so many bits and pieces in them, it would be good to have little versions so it could stay in the bag. This would make it cheaper as well so could have a larger tube for in the house.
