Testing the Lascal BuggyBoard Mini

I tested the Lascal Buggyboard Mini with my 1-year-old and 3-year-old and one feature I love is the ability to convert my own buggy into a travel system for two children, without having to buy another one.

The Mini makes it extremely easy to transport a tired toddler, if another baby is already in the buggy, when shopping or on the school run. The Mini transports a toddler safely and it's also quite a lot of fun for them. I love that you can push a buggy while keeping your tot close between your arms.

On one trip, I took my children and the buggy board to an outdoor landscaped garden, where there is all kinds of terrain to navigate, including grass, cobbles, pebbles, navigating through a maze with sudden turns, narrow areas, and muddy grounds. The mini is an impressive piece of travel kit and it took all the turns and twists with ease.

Installing the Lascal Buggyboard Mini

Fitting the buggy board onto the buggy took around 45 minutes, with reading instructions and watching videos. My particular buggy (Inglesina Quid 2) was not on the fitting list. So it must have been in that 1% that wasn’t included in compatibility with the Mini, however, my husband and I still managed to install it.

One area which we struggled in because there weren't any installation instructions for our buggy, was that we didn't know exactly the best place to place the buggy board. This meant we had to do a bit of adjusting and experimenting.

However, if your buggy is on the list, then it would say exactly where on the chassis to install it. Once installed, I found it useful that it could be flipped upwards to have more space to walk if the toddler wasn’t using it at any point.

Folding the buggy to put into the car was difficult as the buggy didn't fold completely with the buggy board attached. It was very bulky, so took up a lot of space in the boot of the car. The buggy is usually one that folds down to cabin size, so this feature of the buggy was essentially deemed useless with the buggy board attached. Taking the buggy board off is very easy with two simple attachment clips, so it was better to click it off and store it separately to the folded buggy.

It was easy to manoeuvre the Mini – when turning in narrow areas (such as a maze) was no problem. When the Mini was attached to the buggy the pushing felt seamless and as one unit. The Mini didn't feel like it changed the way the buggy moved in any way, plus my toddler enjoyed the ride and being close to me.

One inconvenience, was that my Inglesina buggy doesn't have extendable handlebars, meaning my toddler couldn't stand in between the headrest and the handle – my toddler would be standing in between me and the handles, making the handles slightly harder to reach.

Final verdict

Lascal produce some attractively designed buggy boards and the Mini, does not look out of place on any buggy. They're reasonably priced for an accessory, and can work for any buggy. I have seen plenty of buggy boards from other parent friends, but this was the first buggy board I have used, and I was pretty impressed with it.

My little one enjoyed being on it and I can see how it would make traveling abroad simultaneously with a baby and a toddler easier. A carry bag would be useful to include, as it’s not a product that would be in constant use, especially if stored in the car separately from the buggy.

I would say this is a 4-star product, and would like to see improvements on making it easier to assemble, have a function where buggies can fold with the Mini attached. However, it is very easy to use and overall a highly recommended product.
