Testing the iCandy Orange 4

Build

One thing I found when assembling the iCandy Orange 4, that it was a bit fiddly to do. There were a lot of components to put together in order to make the carrycot basket and the instructions weren't clear in which direction the base board had to go in. In the end it wasn't a huge deal but to a first time parent we just wanted to ensure we were building it right, so not compromise on safety.

The pram is incredibly sturdy though, with the frame being well designed. I liked that the hoods were ventilated and water repellent too, so that even on a windy, rainy or sunny day, my daughter would be safe and the pram wouldn't be ruined.

One feature I liked about the overall pram was that it came with everything you needed from birth up to four years, and even options to create a double stroller if needed.

Usability

Both myself and my partner are quite tall, so we found the fact you could extend the handle height really useful, as it meant we weren't having to hunch over the pram.

The iCandy Orange 4 is a really good sized pram too, but it's still easy to transport. Compared to other prams of a similar style, we found that this pram actually folded flatter, making it to store in the car a lot easier. It's also light enough to lift into the car.

We live next to a canal and a field, and found that the pram didn't have trouble moving from paved surfaces to a slightly rocky path. Being easy to manoeuvre over different terrains is a huge bonus for us as we love hiking, so I feel like it will be extremely useful for light, woodland walks when we start hiking again.

Performance

Through pregnancy, one thing people mentioned when it came to prams was that you needed a good storage solution with it. I loved that the iCandy Orange 4 came with a baby bag that had ample storage space, but also came with lots of room underneath the pram too. We've not had a crumb problem yet, but the hole feature in the storage base is really handy as it means I'll not have to tip the pram at the end of the day to empty crumbs.

One minor thing that was a little disappointing was the mattress. When I added a cot sheet for extra protection, I found the mattress did curl, and it made it difficult to keep flat in the carrycot. It's worth noting the mattress doesn't need a cover really, but I wanted to add protection to it for longevity. I did eventually manage to get it laying flat though.

My daughter settles in the pram quite easily, and she looks comfortable in it too, which is a huge bonus. I feel as though she is safe when she's in it, which is a big thing for a first time parent.

Final verdict

Overall, my husband and I absolutely love this pram! Being tall we found when testing other prams, they didn't really cater with handle bar height, so we're glad this did.

It seems like a high price point, but it comes with everything you need for a baby and really takes the stress away from having to find a compatible car seat or upgrade the pram for toddler-hood. I would say that the quality, features and overall finish of the pram speaks in volume for it.

It's been really easy to take in and out of the car and has managed different terrains fine. I'm excited to continue using this travel system as my baby grows.

What's the difference between the iCandy Orange 3 and iCandy Orange 4?

The iCandy Orange 3 and iCandy Orange 4 are both high-quality strollers, but there are a few key differences between them.

The new iCandy Orange 4 refreshes the original design of the Orange 3, with updated fabrics, new colours and more parent friendly elements, including a designed hole in the bottom of the pram tray to clean crumbs out easier.
