Testing the Joie Finiti with Sprint

I struggled to remove the pram from the box, and I found it fairly heavy, it was easier when the pram was broken up into different sections. The Swivel seat was made with lightweight materials, it was easy to pick up and carry. It took around 5 minutes of going through the manual with some trial and error to work out how to fold it. The user manual was necessary when assembling and it didn’t feel intuitive to me, however with the help of the manual my partner and I were able to assemble it and go through all the different functions in around an hour.

Once I figured it out, I was easily able to fold the pram so it could be compact and allow for easy travel. The pram is very portable as it can be folded down with the hood removed, it easily fit into the back of my car. The swivel seat was easy to clip and move between the pram frame and the car with a large plastic handle which enabled easy carrying. The size is large enough for the baby and the underneath storage is convenient for carrying bags with all the babies extra stuff inside.

As a first-time mum I’ve never used car seats or ISOFIX systems before and I found the Swivel seat something of a challenge! For the Sprint car seat it came readily assembled so no need to attach different parts, but I struggled with fixing the seat to my car’s ISOFIX system. The instruction manual that came with the seat was only a couple of diagrams so to get to the full manual you needed to follow the QR code to their website.

I found the full manual difficult to read on my phone as all the diagrams and writing were on different pages which meant I needed to keep scrolling up and down to compare the diagrams with the text. As a result of this connected the car seat but couldn’t work out how to disconnect it and wasn’t able to remove it. I panicked and thought the worst, it must be stuck! Without clear instructions to reference I contacted the Joie customer service team to help me, luckily, they were great and gave me a reassuring phone call and sent a useful video showing how to detach the seat easily. I would have found a more detailed manual a very useful resource to help me initially get it set up.

The pram once folded down is easy to store, with the wheels removed it takes up even less space. The Swivel seat remains in one unit and can be easily stored in the large box it arrives in without the need to disassemble. I have been storing it either in the box or fitted in my car to make sure it stays clean as I have naughty cats that may try to sit in it or try it out as a scratch post!

The Swivel seat attachment makes the travel system suited for baby’s different growth stage. It’s well-padded and perfect for newborns, the seat should fit babies up to around 4yrs old. Also the pram seat is spacious allowing plenty of room for growth and the safety straps are adjustable making it suitable for various ages.

The pram can be adjusted a lot to fit to different sizes and there are multiple functions and layout options, with so much choice this has been a bit of a learning curve so I keep the manual handy as a useful guide if I need to remember to do something. The Swivel seat can be adjusted when fitted in car although depending on the fit to the ISOFIX it’s not always easy and may need a level of flexibility to manoeuvre around the seat position when adjusting. The strap size is easy to tighten and get a snug fit for baby.

The build quality of the pram and the size of the wheels and easy to quickly trigger braking system make it feel sturdy and safe. The swivel seat has 360 movement enabling back facing fit which is the recommended safest position to protect in accidents, it’s very secure when fitted and I don’t doubt it could hold it’s function and be very safe in the worst case scenario of an impact.

I felt the brakes worked well on the pram frame, they were easy to find, triggered by a simple foot press button and firmly locked making it very difficult for the pram to move while they were engaged. The ISOFIX lock mechanism for the car seat was super secure and held the seat firmly in place when installed giving the security and peace of mind you would expect from a protective safety item. The pram wheels have a really smooth action which made it very easy to manoeuvre. Locking the wheels in a single direction makes it easy when you don’t need to turn.

Testing the Joie Ramble XL Carry Cot

The carry cot comes as a readily assembled item and is not able to fold down to smaller size so could be problematic if your limited to space in your car, it's also fairly bulky and not practical to bring into cafes etc separate from the pram base due to the size. The item is medium weight due to the wooden base but it's no problem when clipped into the pram base and easy to push uphill without any effort. It wouldn't however be lightweight enough to easily keep moving around the house from room to room on a daily basis if you were intending on using as an indoor sleeping cot too.

Whilst perfect for newborns it is suitable for younger babies only. It has a nice long base (my 3 week old fills about half of the length) but the longetivity will depend on the length of the babies as it cannot be adjusted any bigger than it's original size. Also it has no additional safety straps to secure the child and would be unsuitable for babies once they are big enough to climb over the side, a wriggling bigger baby will be better suited to the seated pram attachment.

Coming as a complete unit it's easy to assemble and didn't need instructions to put together. It clips into the pram base by the detachable straps and is easily detachable. Due by to the size it can be bulky and with the foldable base unit take up my full car boot space. Size wise it is a good balance between being big enough to last for the newborn stage and accommodate a growing baby and being a reasonable size to transport in a car, it can be a bit bulky when bringing into cafe's etc where the spin car seat would be a more compact alternative.

When securely fastened to the unit it is nicely stable and doesn't move or wobble when moving over uneven bumpy surfaces. The design is attractive, with an adjustable hood design giving a pleasant shape, the sleek black colour and tan leather features give a classic but modern smart look that's perfect for stylish parents on the go.

Final thoughts

All the material on the pram and car seat can be removed with made it easy to wash. The Swivel seat can easily be sponge wiped to remove stains. The build quality of the pram and car seat are high quality and the materials used are great, it feels like it would last a long time with little damage. The tyres are strong and would easily withstand the wear from rough road surfaces. The large pram wheels make it feel incredibly stable and once fit and the car seat feels absolutely solid once it’s locked in with the ISOFIX.

I really like the design of both the pram and the car seat, I feel they look sleek and stylish with the combination of leather on the handles and the earthy oyster/grey colour scheme of the frame. It’s a great unisex design that feels modern. The material that the seat is made from feels super comfortable, very happy with the overall feel of both items.
