Phil & Teds Smart Lux Pushchair

Measuring only 55cm wide, this pushchair is designed to ensure a comfy ride on the narrowest of streets, including cobblestones.

Stylish and compact with lie-flat, parent-facing or forward-facing seat positions. We love how adaptable and simple to adjust it is, plus it’s light and easy to steer. The handlebar isn’t height-adjustable, so check it’s suitable for you. You need to remove the seat, or position it forward-facing, for folding, which is easy to do, but it’s quite long once folded. The hood is a good size (but noisy to adjust), and the basket is
easily accessible.

The seat can be adjusted between three different positions: fully-reclining, parent-facing and forward-facing. It’s easy to stow away (even with the seat facing forwards), thanks to the telescopic folding mechanism.

Car seat adaptors can be purchased separately to make this compatible with certain car seats from Phil & Teds, Mountain Buggy, Maxi-Cosi and Cybex.

A bassinet is also available for infants. With an extendable sun-hood and a large parcel tray, this pushchair is suitable from birth up to four years.

Jay Brownlee, 32, from Stirling, is mum to Naomi, three, Miriam, two, and Lydia, three weeks. She says: ‘This is made out of beautiful fabric and the seat is very easy to adjust. However, I found it tricky to fold and unfold, and awkward to push, especially with one hand.’

Susanne Remic, 37, from Bolton, is mum to Isobel, two, and Elsie, four weeks. She says: ‘Very stylish. The high seating position makes it great for interacting with baby. Handles well and can be pushed with one hand.’

Gemma Ridlington, 29, from Halesowen, is mum to Alexis, two, and Robyn, seven months. She says: ‘Smooth, comfortable ride but it’s clunky and won’t fit in my car boot. Handle isn’t extendable, no raincover, and collapsing the pushchair was difficult.’

Vicky Parker, 38, from Leicestershire, is mum to Sofia, eight weeks. She says: ‘I love the tilt feature in lie-flat mode, which is great for reflux babies. This pushchair is stylish and compact. Sadly, the brake jammed repeatedly, otherwise I’d have rated it higher.’

Caroline MacPherson, 33, from Buckinghamshire, is mum to Delphi, six months. She says: ‘This is a great all-rounder. It’s light and is easy to steer – even one-handed. The upright seat offers good support. I think this will last well into toddlerhood.’

Charlotte Kewley, 32, M&B’s fashion editor, from London, is mum to Isabella, nine months. She says: ‘I found it tricky to manoeuvre and fold – it kept trapping my fingers! But it’s reasonably light and compact, so is suitable for using on public transport.’
