Whether it’s a camping trip, a sleepover or just a night out in the garden, the excitement of spending the night in a sleeping bagnever loses its appeal for toddlers, children (and even adults).

So if you’re searching for the perfect sleeping bag to wrap up your little one in then you’re in luck, as here at Mother and Baby we’ve rounded up the best sleeping bags on offer for boys and girls; from glow in the dark sleeping bags to Frozen themed ones and even Peppa Pig.

But before you dive in and pick the prettiest looking sleeping bag for your child, there’s a couple of things you need to consider first. If you’re looking for a sleeping bag suitable for sleepovers or an overnight school trip, you’ll want something light and compact. However, if you’re planning a serious family camping trip out in the middle of nowhere, you’ll want to find a sleeping bag that has a lot more padding.

Sleeping bags also come with a seasonal rating to determine what weather they’re best suited for and Blacks give a good breakdown guide on this here.

Here's our favourites...

1.

Highlander Kids' Creature Sleeping Bag

This cute ladybird sleeping bag is suitable for temperatures as low as six degrees and is sure to keep your kid as snug as a bug. The lining fabric is superbly soft to ensure a good night's sleep and it even comes with its very own backpack, making it easy to transport around. It’s also available in a turtle design, shark or panda.

Verified customer review: "Love this sleeping bag, comes in a cute little bag with straps, my daughter loves the design and the "cute little ears" on the sleeping bag. Good size and comfy, easy to put away. We aren't the best at rolling it back up but it still goes in the bag perfectly."

This polyester sleeping bag is perfect for summer or indoor use, making it the ideal choice for sleepovers and, of course, if your child is a big fan of Disney’s Frozen. Once it’s been finished with, it can be chucked in the washing machine on a 30 degree wash and it also comes with a zip-up pouch, so it can be stored neatly.

Verified customer review: "Great quality, perfect size for our 5 year old. She absolutely loves it! Delivery was also amazing and it arrived the next day."

This pink pod is a season 2 sleeping bag that is ideal for if your child is going camping in the early spring/late autumn, or is planning to stay outdoors. The pod shape allows more room to move around (just in case they’re a wriggler) and it packs away into a compact carry bag for easy transport and storage.

If they’re a fan of Peppa Pig then they’ll love this all-in-1 sleeping bag and airbed, which transforms from a bag to bed in minutes. Suitable for 18 months to 3 years, it also comes with a wrap around head rest, book pocket and is machine washable too. Once you’re finished you can deflate it in one minute and fold it into its integral bag. Pump is also included.

Verified customer review: "I bought this for my 3yr old granddaughter. She slept for 10hrs straight on it, which is very unusual for her. I would highly recommend."

Verified customer review: "Delighted with the product, as is my 4 year-old son, who is now sleeping much better! Very warm and cosy, lovely quality. Colours perhaps a little more muted than I'd expected (I bought the vehicle one) but that's no bad thing, still bright and attractive. Will hopefully last for a few years too. Lots of room to grow and should be great for sleep-overs when he's a little older."
